Wigan Athletic meet a Liverpool side who appear to be returning to their best after a shaky start to the season, at the D.W Stadium tonight.
Liverpool will be hoping for a win against a side they have never lost against and one who have only won one game in thirteen attempts. The Latics' free-fall has prompted fears of relegation which would end their 5 year tenure in the Barclays Premiership. Wigan's biggest problem is scoring goals as they have failed to hit the back of the net in their last three games, meanwhile the goals have not exactly been free flowing for Liverpool have failed to find the net in five of their last seven games. However Liverpool will be hoping Yossi Benayoun keeps up his fine form at the D.W Stadium having scored in each of his last 2 visits there. Meanwhile Dirk Kuyt who has scored 5 goals in his last 5 games against Wigan will be hoping to be on the score sheet again as he aims to reach double figures for this season.
Wigan fans will be hoping that Victor Moses can change their fortunes around as he looks set for his first start since his January move from cash-strapped Crystal Palace. Paul Scharner and Frenchman Charles N'Zogbia face late fitness tests but are also likely to come through.
Meanwhile Liverpool are without Fabio Aurelio who has been ruled out for three weeks with a thigh injury, and the Reds will also be sweating on the fitness of Daniel Agger who left the Stadium on crutches last Sunday following bruising a bone in his knee.
Wigan: 1 Kirkland, 17 Boyce, 5 Caldwell, 19 Bramble(C), 31 Figueroa, 27 Diame, 24 McCarthy, 14 N'Zogbia, 7 Scharner, 20 Rodallega, 18 Moreno
